What We Do

North America Maithil Manch (NAMM) is a non-profit organization devoted to the awareness and promotion of Maithili culture in the North Americas, its roots are in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. It started off as a dream, coupled with collection of few like minded people which laid the foundation of NAMM. It was formally founded in 2017 by a group of volunteers who are very passionate about their Maithili legacy and want to take it forward. Below is what want to lead into this, our goals, objectives and guiderails into the future.

Key Objectives:

  • To preserve, maintain, and perpetuate the cultural heritage of the people of Mithila origin.
  • To assist and propagate cultural, literary, educational, social, and community affairs of the people of Mithila region.
  • To organize and promote Maithili cultural, literary and educational events.
  • To bring people together to celebrate various Indian festivals, including specific festivals from Mithila region to keep them alive in the minds of the new generation who have been born and brought up in the US.
  • To facilitate and recognize Maithili language authors and artists.
  • To provide a platform to promote interaction in the Maithili language.
  • To run physical and virtual Gurukul to teach kids about Hindi and Maithili as a language. 
  • To raise funds for natural disasters in India and US either directly or in cooperation with other non-profit organizations.
  • Adopt a Child and support the girl child in the Mithila region
  • Support the old age people in the Mithila region
  • To partner, support, cooperate and promote other relevant local non-profit organizations with similar goals, that has a long term societal impact. One example is Adopt a village initiative of Bihar Foundation to remove blindness.
  • To become a Global citizen and contribute to the Global Maithil Diaspora.
